Frack Free Somerset

Frack Free Somerset is a coalition of concerned groups in Somerset who are taking action on hydraulic fracturing. (Transition Keynsham is a member).

In evaluation of the evidence and risks related to fracking, we believe it is an unacceptable energy option for Somerset that threatens the safety, health, landscape and water quality for human and nonhuman communities across Somerset.

For more information about what fracking is and how it could affect Somerset, please see here.

You can join up for action alerts - so when a planning application is submitted or an action is being organised you can support the campaign a.s.a.p.

The latest news section is also a great way to find out up to date information on whats going on in the area and latest responses from our governments.

Jacob Rees-Mogg has stated that he is “catiously in favour ” of fracking and feels it “is a promising method of gas extraction because it is reltaively cheap”. Read the intial letter asking him to sign the early day motion, calling for a moratorium on all exploration, development and production of shale gas using the hydraulic fracturing (fracking) processes and his response.
