Fracking is a hot topic these days, especially in Keynsham where UK Methane intend to request planning permission to extract coal bed methane within a mile of the high street (we are still waiting for a full planning application to be submitted)
Transition Keynsham believes the evidence and risks related to fracking and coal bed methane extraction make them unacceptable energy options for Keynsham and Somerset. We feel that they threaten safety, health, landscape and water quality for our community and communities across Somerset. We also feel that in the short, medium and long term coal bed methane extraction and fracking are not sustainable sources of energy.
We are in support of Frack Free Somerset who are a coalition of concerned groups in Somerset who are taking action on hydraulic fracturing and coal bed methane extraction within the county. For more information about what fracking is and how it could affect Somerset, please visit the Frack Free Somerset website: www.frackfreesomerset.org
If you would like to find out about alternative options for energy and help Keynsham find more sustainable ways to meet our energy needs please come to one of our energy group meetings, see the calendar for the next meeting or contact firstname.lastname@example.org
